PagoNxt Steps In at Getnet Chile… and Santander Brings in a Strategic Partner

Hey Payments Fanatic!

PagoNxt just became the new strategic partner of Getnet Chile after acquiring a 49.99% stake in the business.

The move was approved this week by shareholders of Banco Santander Chile, marking a big shift from the bank’s previous 99.99% ownership.

Santander Chile keeps control with 50.01%, but the structure changes meaningfully. PagoNxt now sits inside the acquiring business as a long-term partner, not just a sibling entity.

This is less about an exit and more about focus. Bringing PagoNxt in tightens the link between Getnet Chile and Santander’s broader global payments strategy.

Behind the scenes, it’s another example of banks reshaping how they run acquisitions.

Less fully captive. More specialised. More strategic.

Cheers,

Marcel
