Florida AG Sues Yodlee, Trustly & Worldpay Over Sweepstakes Casinos
Hey Payment Fanatic!
Jason Mikula broke this one, and it’s a pretty important one for payments. Florida’s Attorney General has filed two lawsuits targeting sweepstakes casino operators, and the cases also name Yodlee, Trustly, Worldpay, Praxis, and Breeze Labs as payment providers.
Florida alleges that these companies helped provide the financial rails for gambling operations that violate state law, and argues that the processors were “willfully blind” to previous enforcement actions involving their customers. The lawsuits are seeking the recovery and forfeiture of money connected to the alleged illegal gambling.
For payments, the bigger takeaway is pretty clear: providing the rails can also mean taking on the risk. PSPs and payment providers are increasingly expected to understand not just how money moves, but who they are moving it for and what sits behind the transaction.
On that note, AppsFlyer looks at long-term customer value, while Maple traces how trust and risk have shaped credit from ancient lending to onchain finance.

💡 Maple: Four Thousand Years of Credit — and the Chapter We’re Writing Now. Maple traces the evolution of lending from ancient contracts and community enforcement to banks, fintech, and onchain credit, arguing that the core problems of trust, risk, default, and liquidity have remained largely unchanged. The difference today is the infrastructure: blockchain can make property rights and loan terms enforceable by code, while transparent onchain data can improve how credit risk is assessed and monitored. Maple sees this shift as a path toward more open, global access to credit and yield, with stablecoins, tokenization, and zero-knowledge proofs playing an increasingly important role.
