Getnet & Mastercard Launch Biometric Pix
Hey Payments Fanatic!
Getnet and Mastercard just launched Biometric Pix.
The two companies launched a solution that lets shoppers pay via Pix at checkout using a one-time biometric consent, with no app redirects required.
It's built on Brazil's Open Finance rails and targets large e-commerce operations first.
Brazil's Pix handled ~80 billion transactions and R$ 35.4 trillion (US$ 6.2 trillion) in 2025, but friction at checkout has always been a sticking point. Removing the redirect step and replacing it with a single biometric confirmation could meaningfully close the gap with card-based UX.
You'll also see why Adyen is betting on a future where AI agents won't just help you shop—they'll complete the purchase on your behalf.
