Hey Payments Fanatic!

Google just made a smart play for the family wallet.

The company launched a new Google Wallet tool that lets parents in the U.S. set up a secure balance for their kids and teens under 18. Children can tap to pay in stores using NFC-enabled Android or Wear OS devices, while parents keep full control: spending limits, real-time transaction tracking, instant lock/unlock. All managed through Family Link.

In an increasingly cashless world, this is a practical move. No bank account needed, no plastic card to lose. Just a phone and parental oversight built in from the start.

What's interesting here: Google isn't trying to be a neobank for kids. It's embedding money management into the device layer, right where families already live. Automated scheduled payments are coming soon too, which starts to look a lot like an allowance system native to the phone.

See what else is shaping Payments ๐Ÿ‘‡

See you tomorrow!

Cheers,

Marcel
