Mastercard Is Going Bigger in Mexico
Hey Payments Fanatic!
Mastercard is doubling down on Mexico. And the scale of the bet is pretty significant.
The company just announced a new set of initiatives to accelerate digital payments and bring more Mexican small businesses into the digital economy.
Mastercard says its latest commitments could reach more than 1.5 million people and businesses across Mexico, including 1 million micro and small businesses through its Avance MiPyME program.
Thereโs also a major cybersecurity push, with Mastercard and AMITI targeting another 500,000 MiPyMEs with tools and education to better protect their digital operations.
What stands out to me is that this is about much more than getting more people to use cards.
Itโs about building the infrastructure around digital commerce, from payment acceptance to cybersecurity.
And with Mastercard putting this kind of scale behind Mexico, itโs clear the country is becoming an increasingly important market in its broader payments strategy.
Now, on to the rest of today's payments news ๐
